Which meta tags matter for SEO?

The title tag and the meta description matter most, since they shape how a page appears in results. A canonical tag helps when a page is reachable at more than one URL. The rest mainly control social previews.

How long should a title and description be?

Google shows about 600 pixels of a title, usually 50 to 60 characters, and about 920 pixels of a description, roughly 150 to 160 characters. The SERP Snippet Preview measures this in pixels.

What size should the social image be?

Use an image of about 1200 by 630 pixels for a large card. Platforms crop to different shapes, so keep the important part near the centre.

When should I set a robots directive?

Leave it unset for pages you want indexed, since that is the default. Use noindex for pages that should stay out of search results, such as thank-you pages or internal search results.
